Escaping the City Life

Hello friends! I know it's been a while since my last post but I've been quite busy lately so I haven't had time to work on new content. However, I am back now with a special post that is way overdue. Better late than never though right? :) This post is from a mini getaway vacation I took last month to the Poconos. Hope you enjoy it!

One of my favorite things to do whenever I get some free time is to get away away from my hectic everyday life and if possible escape the city. Whether it's with some friends, significant other, or family members, it is always nice to disconnect from responsibilities and just spend some quality time together. So, early in November we found some time to do just that.

We decided to go away for a total of 4 days and because we wanted to get away from the city life, we planned a trip to the Poconos. To be more specific we planned a 3 day stay at this adorable cabin lodge called the Crescent Lodge & Country Inn which was located in the town of Cresco.

The Lodge Cabin
One of the things we loved most about this place is that it is very private and there are only about ten cabins. Each cabin has its own cute name; ours was called "The Wickshire". Also, each one is unique in terms of what it has to offer (depending on how much you are willing to spend). Our cabin had of course bed and bathroom but it also had another small room with a private hot tub and even a fireplace! It was really amazing and it was perfect because it was exactly what we had been looking for.

All the lodge cabins have a very antique and vintage feel. By that I mean like vintage patterns, decorations and such. So if you're looking for something luxurious, this is may not be the place for you. However, if you are looking for a warm, cozy, and cute place away from everything and everyone, you will absolutely love it here :)

Day 1
We arrived at the Crescent Lodge around 1:00 p.m. and our room was ready right away. Because it took us about two hours to get there, we couldn't wait to just get to the room, unpack our things, and relax while eating snacks and just spending time together.

As mentioned, our room had a private hot tub so we took advantage of that on the very first day. It was pretty big in size and so we filled it up and threw in a bath bomb we had gotten from Lush. This was our first time trying one and we were so obsessed. It smelled amazing and the color and glitter was mesmerizing.

Later that night, we decided to go out to dinner. It was going to be a chill night so I dressed pretty casual.

Absolutely love the peter pan collar on this top!

This watch was a gift and it was bought on Etsy :)

In our room, there was a binder with a few suggestions of places to go and a list of restaurants near the area. We drove to one of the suggestions, but unfortunately when we got there they had already closed. However, on our drive there we noticed this placed called "The Pour House" and it looked pretty cool so we went in. The food was pretty good and it was a nice cool spot overall.

I love when restaurants use mason jars. I love them.

Delicious avocado and bacon burger.

Day 2
One of the perks of staying here is that they have complimentary breakfast every morning. That alone was great because it saved us the hassle and stress of finding a spot nearby and also because it saved us some money.

The breakfast was served in buffet style and there were so many options to choose from. They had waffles, bagels, eggs, bacon, sausage, juice, cereal, and a few other things. Because there was a lot of variety, we were able to switch it up every morning so we didn't really have the same exact breakfast every day.

The lounge area where breakfast was served was pretty big. It had these huge windows so it made the room nice and bright. We sat by the window and had the lovely view of our cottage.

During the summer time, the Crescent Lodge has a pool, but because we went during winter, it obviously wasn't filled up and it was just filled with rain water and the fallen autumn leaves.

After breakfast, we walked past the pool area and went to the little hut in the back to play some ping pong :) That was a lot of fun and we actually weren't too terrible at it.

Later that night, we wanted to dress up and go to a nice dinner. We were craving Peruvian food, so we actually found a restaurant about 20 minutes away that had good reviews and decided to go there.

The restaurant was called "Inti" and it was owned and ran by a Peruvian family. The place was small and very intimate which was nice because it felt a little bit like home.

The restaurant was BYOB so we brought a bottle of a sweet and peachy wine to share. It was very delicious. As an appetizer we had Causa and then as a main dish I ordered the green spaghetti with breaded meat. It was actually really good but of course it could never compare to my parents' cooking.

Day 3
On our last full day there, we really wanted to go on one of the hiking trails / nature walks that were accessible through the lodge; however, as we finished getting ready, we looked out the window and were surprised by snow! It had been snowing the whole time we were getting ready and we had no idea. It looked so beautiful so we just sat down on the couch by the window and enjoyed the view while eating cereal and drinking wine #Classy haha.

Then, when the snow slowed down a little bit, we went out to get dinner and took some pictures by the snow.

For dinner we went to a place called "The Speakeasy Lounge," which we found through Yelp. The drive there was absolutely stunning with the fallen snow on all the trees making it look like a winter wonderland. The Speakeasy Lounge was very cool because we had our own booth and there was a jazzy vibe. There was also a pool table and a small stage where they play live music. Even the decorations were cool. Our booth had drawings of Veronica Lake, James Dean, and the one and only Marilyn Monroe.

For food, we had wings as appetizers and I ordered myself a pizza. I wasn't a big fan of the pizza but the wings were quite delicious!

The next day, we slept in until late, got our stuff ready, and then headed to breakfast before heading home.

We were so sad to leave our relaxing getaway but were so glad that we actually got to do it and that we had such a good time. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking to escape life and totally disconnect because you don't get a lot of internet over there even with wifi and sometimes you don't have any service at all. So, it definitely forces you to get off your phone and actually have human interaction and actually pay attention and enjoy your surroundings. It is also very isolated as I mentioned so you won't have to deal with the loud noises of the city.

Anyway, I hope you really enjoyed this post and it encourages you to plan your own mini relaxing getaway! I will be back soon with more fun and exciting content :)

-xoxo, Diana
